Last year: Beaten Finalists. Didn’t quite have the legs to keep up with the Miller Simons O’Sullivan TCI Police in last season’s decider but this year they should have some extra firepower up front to take the battle to their opponents.
Players to watch: Franco Mompremier is the national Under 19 captain and has been capped by the TCI at senior level. Explosive and skilful, he could take this tournament by the scruff of its neck. Neil French will add the class and Jahmal Misick the power. Nik Hight will have more playmaking responsibility this time around.
New additions: Neil French, Jahmal Misick (both unavailable last year), Randy Schulz (Australia).
Losses: Gareth Butler (injury), Jerome Barr (PwC Hurricanes), Jaebets Jean (South Caicos Sharks), Kenny Mullins (overseas)
Prospects: The loss of Butler through injury is a big blow, with the creative playmaker a big contributor to last season’s campaign. Kenny Mullins defection also leaves the Ospreys without a real speed merchant, but they will make up for that with their forward power. If Mompremier and French in particular fire they are in with a shout. Newcomer and rugby league hardman Randy Schulz will add some much needed experience as well as playmaking ability.
